C core transformers offer many benefits in comparison to conventional steel core transformers. Because of the use of grain-oriented silicon steel (with extremely low Watt losses), these transformers offer an ideal compromise between volume, weight, and heat dissipation. In addition, just like toroidal transformers, they have the benefit of low magnetic radiation. At the same time, they are very suitable for higher frequencies, for high voltage applications, and applications requiring an air gap. This design is also very suitable for filters, chokes, etc.
